Tele-Medicine

MOZAMBIQUE INTEGRATED NATIONAL TELEMEDICINE NETWORK

PHASED IMPLEMENTATION :

The ITNT will be implemented under direction of the Ministry in three phases:

First Phase

The First phase will involve assessment of available Telecommunication infrastructure and human resources to develop Telemedicine Network. The First Phase will include planning, design of the network and training of Network users.

The Milestone of this phase will be the establishment of the National Telemedicine Coordination Committee, its Terms of Reference and the development of the 3-year Budget and Business Plan. This phase will last for 6 months.

Second Phase

The Second phase will consist of the installation of the ITNT facilities in existing hospitals and healthcare facilities (5 central hospitals, 7 provincial hospitals and 28 rural general hospitals) , and extending these facilities by way of deployment of the required number of TMC’s ( an estimated 100 ) in rural schools and clinics over a period of three (3) years.

The Virtual Hub of the Network will be based at the Hospital Central de Maputo, the Faculdade de Medicina  School of Public Health at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo.

The Milestone of this phase will be the installation and commissioning of the ITNT facilities and TCM’s.

Third Phase

The Third phase will involve monitoring and evaluation and compiling of monthly reports (the Evaluation Reports) of the Network for the first year of operation after the initiation of the project, and the deployment of additional Tele-containers to more rural schools and clinics as determined by the Evaluation Report.

The Milestone of this Phase will be the production of the Final Evaluation Report.
